Ecofys Project
Addreesses: SMEs afectd by Guideline 2003/97/CE, about greenhouse effect gas emisions.
- Description
European Commision intends to establish in the Union an information system for those SMEs affected by Guideline 2003/97/CE, about greenhouse effect gas emisions (CO2), which homogenizes the received information, thus avoiding a damaging competitiveness by an unequal access to information
Aiming to design the most appropriate information system the Comisión has funded a research, carried out by the consultant agency Ecofys, to analyze the ways in which the Eurochambers cameral network could be the bond necessary to carry that information to every SME in the Union in a homogeneous way.
In order to carry out the research, the consultant agency and Eurochambers picked out Chambers from five countries (Poland, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Spain) to participate in the pilot phase, ending on 11th June 2008. The Catalonia Council of Chambers and the Gijon Chamber of Commerce are the participants in this pilot phase, consisting in contributing the Chambers’ vision in key issues such as:
- Potential structure and management of the information network.
- Enterprise needs and participation possibilities of the Chambers.
- Funding and responsibilities.
- Aspects to be considered:
European Comission’s first approach is the usage of the cameral network, not ruling out, however, the possibility of introducing a network through sectorial associations, or other different options also considered
European Comission considers homogenization of the information to be a need, that is why a non-disclosed budget has been given to undertake this network within a period of two years.
